As a distinguished guest of Australian Geomechanics Society, Serge Varaksin has made an AGS tour of Australia and shared his ground improvement experience with all AGS chapters in the states.
Serge who is a senior Menard manager and the current chairman of ISSMGE Ground Improvement Committee began his tour by making 4 presentations in Perth’s Ground Improvement Workshop on 11 and 12 June 2010. This workshop was held at Curtin University and GFWA was the gold sponsor of the event.
Serge then travelled on to Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane and made one presentation in each city.
Babak Hamidi, GFWA’s marketing manager and the chairman of Perth’s Workshop organizing committee also made a presentation during the Workshop about the challenging jet grouting works at Sydney International Airport’s Runway End Safety Area.
