GFWA is an expert in secant pile walls, demonstrated by projects across Australia.

Secant Pile Walls: Ideal for deep excavations and water control. This method ensures effective earth retention and ground stability, perfect for complex construction sites.

Our processes

Stage 1: Site Preparation

The site is cleared, and the alignment of the secant wall is marked. Guide walls or templates may be installed to ensure precise positioning of the bored /CFA piles. Access for drilling equipment and materials is ensured.

Stage 2: Primary Pile Drilling

Primary piles are drilled at intervals along the wall alignment using a piling rig. The spacing and diameter of the primary piles are critical to the formation of the continuous wall. The drilling process must be carefully controlled to ensure proper positioning and depth.

Stage 3: Primary Pile Concrete Pouring

Concrete is poured into the drilled holes to form the primary piles. The concrete must be of high quality and placed carefully to ensure it completely fills the holes and surrounds the reinforcement cages. The primary piles are typically unreinforced or lightly reinforced.

Stage 4: Secondary Pile Drilling

Once the primary piles have cured, secondary piles are drilled between the primary piles, overlapping them to form a continuous wall. The drilling process must be carefully controlled to ensure proper positioning and depth.

Stage 5: Secondary Pile Reinforcement Installation

Steel reinforcement cages are placed into the drilled holes for the secondary piles. The cages consist of interconnected vertical and horizontal steel bars tied together to form a rigid structure.

Stage 6: Secondary Pile Concrete Pouring

Concrete is poured into the drilled holes to form the secondary piles. The concrete must be of high quality and placed carefully to ensure it completely fills the holes and surrounds the reinforcement cages. The secondary piles are typically reinforced to provide additional strength to the wall.

Stage 7: Quality Control

The secant wall is inspected for alignment, strength, and structural integrity. Non-destructive testing methods such as sonic integrity testing or load testing may be used to assess the quality of the concrete and reinforcement. Ensuring that the wall meets all design and safety standards is essential for the success of the project.
