Micropile Services for Versatile Foundation Solutions
GFWA’s expertise in Micropiles is reflected in numerous Australian projects.
Micropiles: Suitable for complex projects and limited access sites. This versatile method provides foundations in restricted areas.
Our processes
Stage 1: Site Preparation
The site is cleared and marked, ensuring access for drilling equipment. The site is prepared for the arrival of drilling and grouting equipment, with any obstacles removed.
Stage 2: Drilling
Small-diameter holes are drilled to the required depth using rotary or percussion drilling methods. The drilling pattern and depth depend on the load distribution and soil conditions. The drilling process must be carefully controlled to ensure proper positioning and depth.
Stage 3: Reinforcement Installation
A steel reinforcement cage or central reinforcing bar is inserted into the drilled hole. The reinforcement provides the necessary structural strength to the micropile.
Stage 4: Grout Injection
Grout is injected into the hole to fill voids and bond the reinforcement to the surrounding soil or rock. Controlled flow and pressure are used to ensure uniform grout distribution. The grouting process must be monitored to ensure proper filling and strength.
Stage 5: Curing
The grout is allowed to cure and stabilize the micropile. Proper curing is essential to achieve the desired strength and stability. The curing process is monitored to ensure the grout sets correctly and achieves the required properties.
Stage 6: Pile Head Finishing
The pile head is trimmed to the required level and prepared for connection to the foundation system. This involves cutting the reinforcement to the specified elevation and preparing the pile head for integration with the foundation elements.
Stage 7: Quality Control
The micropiles are inspected for alignment, depth, and structural integrity. Non-destructive testing methods such as load testing or integrity testing may be used to assess the quality of the micropiles. Ensuring that the micropiles meet all design and safety standards is essential for the success of the project.
